And here I thought my week couldn’t get better!
After saying I would a few different times, I’m finally starting to translate the Hello! Project songs I grew up with. This week it’s Yaruki! IT’S EASY, which was one of my favorite karaoke songs as a teenager. Hope you guys don’t mind me translating stuff that’s definitely been translated before.
In not blog-related news, it looks like I’ll be in Tokyo for about a week at the end of March. If there’s anything cool that you think I should check out, let me know on Bluesky!
The music video for sakanaction’s “Kaiju,” featuring clips from the anime “ORB: On the Movements of the Earth”
While Yamaguchi Ichiro has been active with livestreams and other solo performances since 2022, it’s been an agonizingly long wait for new sakanaction music. Imagine everyone’s surprise when the band suddenly announced two weeks ago that they would be making a full comeback with a new song **called “Kaiju”! This was clearly in the works for a while since the song title is the included in the name of **their currently ongoing 2025 tour, “SAKANAQUARIUM 2025 ‘KAIJU’.” Hopefully this means they’ve been working on other new music as well, but I know better than to get my hopes up too high with this band, haha. I’ll be watching for a release announcement leading into summer music festival season.
In the meantime, a special “ORB: On the Movements of the Earth” version of the music video is currently live on the band’s YouTube! As bittersweet as it is for me specifically (lol), it looks like the anime tie-in encouraged JVC to add English-translated subtitles to the official music video on release day. How exciting is that?

Which day(s) would you go to?
Speaking of music festivals… music fans were absolutely shocked to hear that Yamashita Tatsuro—yes, the legend himself!—would be taking the stage at the iconic FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL this July. (He previously made an appearance at RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL 2018 in EZO seven years ago, but this will be his first time performing at FUJI.) This is just the first lineup announcement, so more acts will be announced closer to the actual dates.
I, for one, am super jealous of anyone who will get to see Tatsuro, Four Tet, CONFIDENCE MAN, and NIGHT TEMPO all in one day. The Sunday lineup (Hitsujibungaku, Vampire Weekend, Creepy Nuts, and kanekoayano???) also looks fantastic.
